The MLLP’s Prof. Alfons Juan has been an invited speaker at SCIC-Universities 2019 (SCIC 23; Brussels, 4–5 May 2019), the European Commission’s DG Interpretation annual conference. He presented the MLLP’s experience with automatic multilingual subtitling and language technologies in higher education, at Universitat Politècnica de València and now in EU project X5gon.
Since 1996 the SCIC-Universities conference has covered the latest developments and trends in interpretation, welcoming guests from EU institutions, international organizations and over forty partner universities in EU and non-EU countries. This year’s 23rd edition of the SCIC-Universities conference focused on developments in the interpreting profession, including language technologies for interpreting, and what that means in terms of training future generations of interpreters.
The MLLP’s Professor Alfons Juan participated as an invited speaker in the panel “Towards the augmented interpreter”, presenting the MLLP’s experience with automatic multilingual subtitling and language technologies in higher education, at Universitat Politècnica de València and now in EU project X5gon.
You can watch the whole conference and download the presentations from the SCIC23 conference website. In particular, you can watch here the panel “Towards the augmented interpreter”, with Prof. Alfons Juan as the first speaker (after the panel introductions).
We would like to thank the organizers for inviting us to participate, and we look forward to future editions of the conference.
