INTERACT-EUROPE 100: Implementing inter-specialty cancer training in 100 centres across Europe
Period: 1/12/2023 – 30/11/2026
Project website: https://www.europeancancer.org/eu-projects/impact/interact-europe-100
Project supported by the European Union’s EU4Health programme under project no. 101129375.
Cancer patients in Europe are treated by an array of different specialties and professions: medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, cancer nurses and many others. Teamwork is essential. But high functioning teamwork requires a clear understanding of each other’s roles and competencies. INTERACT-EUROPE 100 is an ambitious project to provide cancer care professionals with the training necessary to enhance this collaboration – now coming to 100 cancer centres across Europe. Co-funded by the European Union under the EU4Health programme 2021-2027 as part of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, INTERACT-EUROPE 100 involves 44 partner organisations from 17 European countries implementing this novel training curriculum.
As part of this project, the MLLP research group (VRAIN Institut Valencià d’Investigació en Intel·ligència Artificial, Universitat Politècnica de València) participate as experts in language technologies within Work Package 2 – Programme Design and Development, being in charge of integrating machine translation technology for Romanian, German, Slovenian, French, Spanish, and Ukrainian into the learning platform. In this regard, to ensure access for learners with different language backgrounds, cross-language technology will be adapted and evaluated in the oncology domain. Cross-language technology will be seamlessly integrated into technology-enhanced learning scenarios via an API developed by the UPV’s MLLP research group.
