MLLP director Alfons Juan will be a speaker at the Translating Europe Forum 2016 conference, which will take place in Brussels on 27 and 28 October, organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation, focusing this year on translation tools and technologies.
Organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation, the Translating Europe Forum conference is the yearly central event in their Translating Europe series of meetings around the EU, with the goal of encouraging more systematic cooperation between all stakeholders in the world of translation and interpreting. With an attendance of around 500 people, including students, researchers, professionals, and policy makers, the conference is an excellent meeting point for the exchange of ideas and networking. This year’s Translating Europe Forum 2016, to take place in Brussels on 27 and 28 October, will be focusing on translation tools and technologies.
Given this year’s topic, the MLLP is especially glad to announce its participation in the Forum. MLLP director Alfons Juan will be a panellist in the session “MOOCS: The future of online training?”, at 11.30 on Friday 28 October. He will present the MLLP’s experience with automatic speech recognition and machine translation on the topic of “Applying advanced language technologies for multilingual subtitling and translation in education”. You can read here our presentation proposal. Be sure to come see the panel!
You can find more information on the sessions in this year’s conference programme.
This will be the MLLP’s second year attending #TranslatingEurope, and we’re looking forward to participating in it. We hope to see you there!
